When shopping groceries and cosmetics, many of us nowadays pay attention to organic ingredients, resource-efficient cultivation and fair production conditions. But what about buying furniture?
Instead of sustainability, design is usually in the focus. But shouldn´t we also be concerned here about fair working conditions and an environment friendly production? Approaches such as upcycling or second-hand purchases at flea markets are already taking up this idea.
But there is another possibility: the use of recycled material in furniture construction!
We have been implementing this idea at ROOM IN A BOX since 2013.
Our material: corrugated cardboard, which consists of at least 70% recycled paper fibers. The remaining part comes from sustainable forestry. Together, this results in 100% recyclable cardboard furniture, which can be easily recycled through the regular waste paper bin. We know, however, that this will not happen so quickly. You can read more about this in our magazine article on corrugated cardboard.
Apart from paper fibers, we only use a corn-/ wheat- or potato-based starch glue to bond the paper webs to corrugated board. Our products therefore do not contain ingredients of animal origin. Furthermore, our printing inks are solvent-free and harmless.
Last but not least, the complete production of our ROOM IN A BOX cardboard furniture takes place in Germany. This way we can guarantee you short transport routes, a fair production and consistent quality. The home delivery is done easily and even CO2-neutral with the regular parcel delivery service: https://www.dpd.com/de_en/unternehmen/verantwortung/drivingchange/klimaneutraler_pakettransport
The result: resource conservation and CO2 saving at all levels. This makes furnishing your home even more fun!
